Do your gluten free noodles always turn to smoosh when you make them ? ugh! I use to always get so frustrated when making gluten free noodles because my dish always wound up looking and tasting smooshy. I have learned through the years how to finally make them look and taste like noodles.
The trick is in the “Rinsing”…
Do not cook your noodles like the package says. Just follow these simple instructions for perfect Gluten free noodles.
- Fill your pot with water 1/2 way, add a little oil and salt.
- Bring to a boil and then add the box of noodles, stir well!
- Let them return to a boil and stir frequently as they cook to break up any sticky noodles.
- The water will get thick and starchy, just keep stirring and checking for your preferred texture.
- Important step. DO NOT DRAIN. FIRST add water to the pot. Cold or Hot depending on your dish.Fill the pot about til it reaches about three fourths full.
- Then stir to remove starch from the noodles.
- “Now Drain” and rinse noodles a second time in your strainer.
- Add a little more water and stir the bottom of the empty pot to remove any stuck noodles and starch remaining if you plan to use the same pot.
- Now Add your cheese, milk, seasonings..pasta sauce etc.. stir and reheat in oven or turn burner on low to reheat if necessary, or use your noodles to make a cold pasta dish YUM!
- ENJOY!
